The McCutcheon Mavericks will challenge the Hamilton Heights Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. McCutcheon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, McCutcheon earned an 8-3 victory over Benton Central. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Bison recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

McCutcheon got a great performance from Reed Grimes as he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Grimes a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Zayne Newgent and Aiden Riser did most of the damage at the plate: Newgent went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Riser went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Riser has posted since back in April. Jon Riley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Hamilton Heights was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Hamilton Southeastern, falling 12-4.
Hamilton Heights saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adam Hughes, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Hamilton Heights' loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for McCutcheon, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.
Hamilton Heights' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: McCutcheon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321. It's a different story for Hamilton Heights, though, as they've only averaged .212. Will they be able to contain McCutcheon's hitters?
McCutcheon came out on top in a nail-biter against Hamilton Heights in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 6-4. Will the Mavericks repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
