Recap: Lejeune Devil Pups vs. Northside - Pinetown Panthers
The Lejeune Devil Pups pushed their score all the way to 65 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 78-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northside - Pinetown. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Friday (62), Lejeune still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, Lejeune had strong showings from Connor Shea, who scored 30 points along with two steals, and Trevor Highsmith, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Shea has scored all season. Another player making a difference was James Rod, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Lejeune has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for Northside - Pinetown, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing East Carteret the next time they take the court. Lejeune will head out to face East Carteret at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Northside - Pinetown will head out to face them at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
