Southern Connecticut Division II - East recap Oct. 23, 2012

Foran extended the longest winning streak in Southern Connecticut Division II - East this week by beating Notre Dame, 50-35. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Lions.

Foran made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,754 from 7,191. The improvement was the result of 50-35 victory over the Green Knights last week.

Jeff Bevino's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jake Kasuba threw for 323 yards and Sean Deegan had 146 yards receiving. On the ground Nico Derosa chipped in 136 yards. Nicholas Weissauer helped Foran's passing attack out by catching 10 balls for 112 yards.

The Lions' Kasuba and Weissauer have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Kasuba has thrown for 1388 yards this season, while Weissauer, a 5-foot-8 receiver, has 43 catches for 531 yards. North Haven's Jalon White leads the league in rushing yards with 1142.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when East Haven takes on Sheehan. The Yellowjackets are currently in third, while the Titans are in fourth.

Foran led Southern Connecticut Division II - East in scoring this week after putting up 50 points on Notre Dame. Kasuba ran for 68 yards in the win.
