Softball Preview: Plainfield Quakers vs. New Palestine Dragons

Plainfield is 0-3 against New Palestine since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Plainfield Quakers will head out on the road to face off against the New Palestine Dragons at 6:00 p.m. Plainfield's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so New Palestine's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Plainfield is hoping to deliver their fans another blowout on Monday, just like they did against Ben Davis (and have done all season long). Plainfield never let Ben Davis onto the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Friday. Winning may never get old, but Plainfield sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Krista Haberkorn was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Cali Clements, who scored a run and stole two bases.

Meanwhile, New Palestine faced Crown Point in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. New Palestine fell just short of Crown Point by a score of 4-3. It was the first time this season that New Palestine let down their fans at home.

Allie Blum was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. Sydney Oliver was another key contributor, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases.

Plainfield's win bumped their record up to 19-6. As for New Palestine, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 18-2.
