Hickory had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They were the clear victors by  a  3-0 margin over the Newton-Conover Red Devils. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season,  with their most recent  victory being a  3-0  win  back in September.
 Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Hickory took every set by at least 11 points. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-14,  25-8.
Hickory can attribute much of their success to  Izzy Montgomery, who  had seven  digs and seven  aces. Those  seven  aces gave  Montgomery a new career-high.  Emma Pfeifer also deserves some recognition as  she  had her first  block of the season.
 They weren't the only good servers: Hickory  was lethal from the service line and  finished the match with 16  aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  served at least five  aces in five consecutive  matchups.
Hickory's record is now 28-4. As for Newton-Conover, their loss was  their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which  dropped their record down to 2-21.
 Coming up, Hickory will take on Bandys at 6:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Newton-Conover does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
