Soccer Game Preview: West Hills vs. Grossmont

The West Hills Wolf Pack will venture away from home to square off against the Grossmont Foothillers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

If West Hills beats Grossmont with three goals on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. West Hills had just enough and edged El Cajon Valley out 3-2 on Wednesday. Given the Wolf Pack's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 321st, while the Braves are ranked 912th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, Grossmont made sure to put some goals up on the board against El Capitan on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Vaqueros a 4-0 shutout. That four goal margin sets a new team best for the Foothillers this season.

West Hills has also been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2-3 record this season. As for Grossmont, the win got them back to even at 6-6-2.

Everything went West Hills' way against Grossmont in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as West Hills made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for West Hills since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
