Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Kentridge

Kentridge had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Kentwood Conquerors a 3-0 shutout. Give the Chargers' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

The result came thanks to Jozi Thompson's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 19 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Genesis Miller was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Kenzie Coble was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Kentridge's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Kentwood, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kentridge will square off against Stadium at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Chargers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Kentwood, they will face off against Auburn at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.78 runs per game on average), something the Conquerors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
