Football Game Preview: Bloomfield Bees vs. Boyd County Spartans

Two dominant backs in Brock Jeannoutot and Ben Schmitz are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Bloomfield Bees will be playing in front of their home fans against the Boyd County Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bloomfield's defense has only allowed 10.8 points per game this season, so Boyd County's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Bloomfield is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Wausa/Osmond, who was ranked 12th at the time (Bloomfield was ranked 22nd). The Bees took a 36-22 bruising from Wausa/Osmond on Friday. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Bees, who until this contest were averaging 10.8 points allowed.

Meanwhile, Boyd County had just enough and edged out Niobrara/Verdigre 28-26 on Friday.

Bloomfield better keep an eye on Barrett Koenig. He was instrumental in Boyd County's win, rushing for 129 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries.

Boyd County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 317 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 167 rushing yards in eight consecutive games dating back to last season.

Boyd County's defense made their presence known, laying out Cash Wickersham four times. Peyton Wickersham was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.

Having lost for the first time this season, Bloomfield fell to 4-1. As for Boyd County, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Bloomfield has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 282.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Boyd County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 291.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
