Basketball Recap: Plainfield Falls Short Against Ranked Center Grove

On Tuesday, Plainfield faced Center Grove in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Plainfield Quakers fell 58-48 to the Center Grove Trojans. The Quakers haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Despite the loss, Plainfield still got an impressive performance from Hannah Menser, who posted 21 points and three steals. Menser has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Berkeley Williams was another key player, going 5 of 12 on her way to 11 points.

Center Grove's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gracyn Gilliard led the charge by going 8 of 12 on her way to 23 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Emerson Vlcan, who had ten points.

Plainfield's defeat dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Center Grove, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.

Plainfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 58-48 loss against Noblesville on the 14th. As for Center Grove, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 45-30 defeat against Bloomington South on the 12th.
