Volleyball Recap: Royal Palm Beach Comes Up Short

After flying high against Santaluces last Wednesday, Royal Palm Beach came back down to earth. The Wildcats took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Palm Beach Central Broncos on Wednesday. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Broncos when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Palm Beach Central scored at least 19 points in every set. The final score came out to 25-19, 22-25, 25-22, 25-20.

Leslie Mentor paced Royal Palm Beach's offense, picking up 12 kills. Mentor got some help from Madison Nelson and her 34 assists. Olivia Borges and Camila Echeverry kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Lily Hutchinson was nothing short of spectacular for Palm Beach Central: she had 23 assists and four aces. Those 23 assists gave Hutchinson a new career-high.

Royal Palm Beach's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Palm Beach Central, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-7.

Royal Palm Beach didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Forest Hill on the 25th. As for Palm Beach Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Tournament Team on the 26th.
