Volleyball Recap: Columbine Rebels vs. Arvada West Wildcats

Columbine was the 3-0 winner over Arvada West when they last played one another back in October of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Columbine Rebels fell just short of the Arvada West Wildcats by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Rebels have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Columbine wouldn't go down easily and took Arvada West into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-14, 15-25, 21-25, 15-7.

Columbine's loss came despite strong showings from Eva Chapman and Sofia Screaton. Chapman had 16 digs, while Screaton had 20 kills and 17 digs. Screaton is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had six or more in the last ten games she's played dating back to last season.

Arvada West found their leader in underclassman Brooke Luna, who had eight digs.

Columbine's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Arvada West, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-6.

Columbine will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Ralston Valley at 6:30 p.m. Ralston Valley is coming into the contest with four straight defeats on the road, meaning Columbine will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Arvada West, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Valor Christian on the 10th.
