Softball Game Preview: First Flight Nighthawks vs. Pasquotank County Panthers

First Flight has gone a perfect 10-0 against Pasquotank County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The two teams, after both having extra time off, will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field at 5:00 p.m. First Flight is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.

First Flight took a loss when they played away from home last Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Thursday. They never let Northeastern get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The Nighthawks haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Avery Winslow made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, First Flight got a massive performance out of Molly Richards, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that Richards has launched this season. Savannah Schnader was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

First Flight always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .957. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Pasquotank County's offense. They lost 10-0 to Martin County last Thursday. The Panthers have struggled against the Gators recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

First Flight's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Pasquotank County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

First Flight got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Pasquotank County by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Nighthawks repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
