Softball Recap: Garber Beats Laker for Their Sixth Straight Win

Garber strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past the Laker Lakers 16-1. The Dukes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by seven runs or more this season.

Kara Kotenko was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Bowker, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Jae Shooltz also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Garber kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Laker only managed one hit.

Garber pushed their record up to 6-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Laker, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Garber will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lakers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
