Baseball Recap: Liberty Sets Scoring Season-High Against Valley View

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Liberty). They never let the Valley View Eagles get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Bison with their most commanding win of the season.

Logan Paad looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Liberty's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is 2-1 (and 4-6 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, Riley Vogt and Ian Slater did most of the damage at the plate: Vogt scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Slater scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those two runs gave Vogt a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexander Arteaga, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Liberty pushed their record up to 6-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Valley View, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Liberty will have a chance to go back-to-back against Valley View: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
