Soccer Game Preview: Hazelwood East vs. Lutheran North

The Hazelwood East Spartans will head out on the road to square off against the Lutheran North Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Hazelwood East and five for Lutheran North.

Last Monday, Hazelwood East came up short against East Alton-Wood River and fell 4-2.

Meanwhile, Lutheran North came up short against Collegiate Medicine & Bioscience on Wednesday, falling 6-1.

Hazelwood East's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Lutheran North, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Hazelwood East was able to grind out a solid win over Lutheran North in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
