Baseball Recap: Murphysboro Red Devils vs. Benton Rangers

Murphysboro and Benton squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Murphysboro had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Rangers by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Red Devils have suffered since April 11th.

Mason Bastien made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Edwards, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Murphysboro's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-15. As for Benton, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-20.
