Basketball Game Preview: Galena Grizzlies vs. Bishop Manogue Miners

Galena hasn't had much luck against Bishop Manogue recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Galena Grizzlies are taking a road trip to take on the Bishop Manogue Miners at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Galena turned things around against Reno on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 65-63 win over the Huskies.

Meanwhile, Bishop Manogue had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Raiders as they made off with a 58-38 victory.

Bishop Manogue's win came from a few key players Galena will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Liam Sorensen, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 18 points and five rebounds. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Eli Benna, who made all 6 shots he took to post 12 points and three steals.

Galena's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Bishop Manogue, they are also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Galena didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Bishop Manogue in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 67-61 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Galena since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
