Volleyball Recap: Madison Starts Season with Loss at Home

Madison unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost 3-0 to the Niobrara/Verdigre Cougars on Thursday. The Dragons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 25-11, 25-21.

Madison's offense was headlined by Wedy Atanacio and Salena Duinkerken, who picked up three kills apiece. They were helped by Monse Lopez and Iveet Gonzalez, who contributed three assists each.

Madison will be playing at home against Shelby-Rising City on Tuesday. As for Niobrara/Verdigre, they will head out on the road to challenge Creighton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
