Will Hunter Johnson some day add to the amazing list of professional athletes turned out by Brownsburg, which is an Indianapolis suburb and has a student body of 2,436?

The 6-foot-4, 205-pounder, who signed with national champion Clemson and already has enrolled, was rated the No. 1 quarterback in the country in the class of 2017 and has the kind of talent that could land him in the NFL following his college career. During his four years on varsity, Johnson, who first committed to Tennessee, passed for 6,657 yards and 69 touchdowns with just 36 interceptions.

In addition to being named the nation's No. 1 quarterback, the Bulldogs' star, was Indiana's Mr. Football, MVP in the Army All-American Bowl and topped it off by being crowned homecoming king.

*Brownsburg has a population of just 24,996, but it already has produced five professional athletes who have reached the pinnacle in their respective sports. Pitcher Drew Storen, pitcher Lance Lynn and catcher Tucker Barnhart all have made impacts in Major League Baseball. Gordon Hayward is making his mark in the National Basketball Association, while Chris Jones reached the National Football League. 

*Though Johnson is Indiana's lone 5-Star recruit, there are four others ranked as 4-Star recruits. All have either committed or signed. One of them, Lawrence Central (Indianapolis) graduate Jeremy Patton, starred at Arizona Western College, but needs an extra semester before he can enroll in June at Arkansas. The 6-6, 215-pounder was the No. 1-rated junior college tight end and No. 9 overall player after helping his team to national runner-up honors.



*Other 4-Star recruits are Fishers wide-receiver/defensive back R.J. Potts (Cincinnati), Cathedral (Indianapolis) linebacker Pete Werner (Ohio State) and Center Grove (Greenwood) athlete Russ Yeast (Louisville). Werner, who has committed to Notre Dame, is the son of Greg Werner, a former NFL player. His older brother, Dan, is playing at Harvard. Yeast earlier had committed to Kentucky.

*Indiana University and Louisville tied with six for the most recruits while Miami of Ohio was close behind with five. Cincinnati had three and Big Ten member Purdue, surprisingly, picked just two Hoosiers.

*Indianapolis, as could be expected, has the most recruits with 11. Leaders with three each are Cathedral and Ben Davis (Indianapolis). However, Indianapolis suburb Carmel, a power in many sports, tops the list with six recruits.
