Baseball Game Preview: Alvord Bulldogs vs. Tom Bean Tomcats

Alvord is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Tom Bean is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bulldogs will host the Tomcats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Alvord is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over Riesel.

Tom Bean came out on top against Axtell on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Tomcats blew past the Longhorns 9-3.

Cash Linder made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Linder was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hagen Darney, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Donnie Hooten, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Tom Bean has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Alvord, their win bumped their record up to 20-7.

Alvord came up short against Tom Bean in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 6-1. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
