Preview: Damascus Hornets vs. Northwest Jaguars
The Damascus Hornets will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Northwest Jaguars on January 23rd. Northwest took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Damascus, who comes in off a win.
In what's become a running theme this season, Damascus gave their fans yet another huge victory last Friday. They claimed a resounding 53-25 victory over Magruder on the road. Given Damascus' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Magruder is ranked 207th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Northwest's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Friday after their seventh straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 60-22 loss at the hands of Quince Orchard.
Damascus' win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Northwest, their defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-7.
Everything came up roses for Damascus against Northwest in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 65-30 win. Does Damascus have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northwest turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
