Baseball Recap: Mendota Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Mendota hadn't done well against Dos Palos recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Aztecs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Broncos. Winning may never get old, but the Aztecs sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Paul Ochoa was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Cesar Mercado, who went 1-for-3 with two runs.

Mendota pushed their record up to 11-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Dos Palos, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12-1 record this season.

Mendota didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-5 defeat against Coalinga on the 6th. As for Dos Palos, they have also already played their next matchup, a 16-2 victory against Tranquillity on the 6th.
