Basketball Game Preview: Greendale Panthers vs. Wisconsin Lutheran Vikings

Greendale hasn't had much luck against Wisconsin Lutheran recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Greendale Panthers will venture away from home to challenge the Wisconsin Lutheran Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Greendale is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Monday as they easily beat St. Anthony 97-18. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin Lutheran had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They beat the Warhawks by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 72-55. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Warhawks are ranked 51st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wisconsin Lutheran's victory was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.4 points per game. As for Greendale, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-6.

Greendale suffered a grim 79-54 defeat to Wisconsin Lutheran when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Greendale avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
