Recap: Gateway Eagles vs. North Fort Myers Red Knights
The Gateway Eagles had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They claimed a resounding 71-26 win over North Fort Myers on the road. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 43-17.
Kenyah Moss was on fire: she scored 28 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Thatiyana Holiday, who scored 18 points along with 5 steals.
Despite the loss, North Fort Myers saw an underclassman step up: Faith MacKay scored 6 points along with 6 rebounds.
North Fort Myers struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Gateway racked up 14.
Gateway's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for North Fort Myers, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gateway will take on Lehigh at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for North Fort Myers, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Canterbury at 6:00 p.m.
