Baseball Game Preview: Portland Bulldogs vs. South Portland Red Riots

The Portland Bulldogs will challenge the South Portland Red Riots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Things were looking good for Portland after they put the first run on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Kennebunk, falling 12-6. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost three in a row.

Neiker Fuenmayor Pacheco was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Those two earned runs gave him a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Portland saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Milliken, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Milliken has hit this season. Another was Thomas Chase, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, South Portland has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.91 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Thursday. They lost 12-0 to Gorham. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Red Riots were not able to get on the board.

South Portland is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-4. As for Portland, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.
