Softball Recap: Canandaigua Academy Takes a Loss

Canandaigua Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gates Chili Spartans. If the Braves were looking for revenge after losing 11-0 to the Spartans when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Canandaigua Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marlena Casey, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base was Casey's first of the season.

Canandaigua Academy's record is now 1-7. As for Gates Chili, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canandaigua Academy will take on Eastridge at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.67 runs per game on average), something the Braves will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Gates Chili, they will face off against Batavia at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
