Basketball Recap: Gordon-Rushville Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mitchell, Gordon-Rushville was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against the Bayard Tigers by a score of 50-37. The win was some much needed relief for the Mustangs as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Daniel Martins was nothing short of spectacular: he almost dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 11 boards, and nine steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylon Holston, who went 5 of 7 en route to 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

When it comes to explaining why Bayard lost, don't look at Noah Manka. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points in addition to seven boards and seven steals. With that strong performance, Manka is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Connor Posey, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.

Gordon-Rushville's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Bayard, their loss was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-9.

Gordon-Rushville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 65-56 defeat against Hay Springs on the 14th. Bayard has also already played their next contest, a 49-40 loss against Morrill on the 14th.
