Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Schuylkill). They blew past the Panther Valley Panthers 18-0 on Tuesday. Considering the Spartans have won three games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Brigid Flynn made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Flynn was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, North Schuylkill let Lindsay Brouse and Jordanna Frie run wild. Brouse scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Frie scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Those runs marked the first that Brouse scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mallorie Croker, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
North Schuylkill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Panther Valley only posted a batting average of .167.
North Schuylkill's record is now 3-1. As for Panther Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. North Schuylkill will face off against rival Pine Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 4, the Cardinals 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Panther Valley is set to challenge their familiar foe Pottsville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
