Softball Recap: Fairport Victorious

Fairport proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 12) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Liverpool Warriors 7-5. For the Red Raiders, this counts as revenge for the 4-2 victory the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Leila Hernandez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Annabella Clark was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaina Nunez, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Fairport's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Liverpool, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Coming up, Fairport will be playing in front of their home fans against Jamesville-DeWitt at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Liverpool, they will venture away from home to square off against Webster Thomas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Titans will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Warriors surely won't give up without a fight.
