Baseball Recap: Maricopa Comes Up Short

Maricopa made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Casa Grande, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Rams fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Rams in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost seven in a row.

Travis Varela made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Sebastian Lopez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Maricopa's defeat dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Casa Grande, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-17.

While Maricopa had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
