Basketball Recap: McArthur Comes Up Short

McArthur was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 74-42 loss at the hands of the Pembroke Pines Charter Jaguars. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 479th, while the Jaguars are ranked 31st).

McArthur's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joshua Barber, who posted five points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Jonas Bonannee was another key player, putting up nine points.

Pembroke Pines Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Robert Guishard led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards. Guishard is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zemari Days, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 15 points in addition to six assists and three steals.

McArthur's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-5.

McArthur wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 77-46 defeat against Western on the 9th. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-51 victory against Cardinal Gibbons on the 8th.
