Basketball Recap: Lake Norman's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to 19

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Lake Norman walked away with it. Everything went their way against the North Mecklenburg Vikings on Tuesday as they made off with a 66-45 victory. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 22 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Kelsey Rhyne continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 42% from the field en route to 29 points and five assists. Her big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rayana Minard, who went 8-for-10 on her way to 18 points.

North Mecklenburg's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shanon Hoover, who shot 40% from the field to rack up 16 points and eight boards. That's the most points Hoover has posted since back in January. Lenise Joseph was another key player, putting up 11 points and seven blocks.

The win was the 19th in a row for Lake Norman, bringing their record for this year to 27-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.5 points over those games. As for North Mecklenburg, their defeat ended a 12-game streak of away wins and brought them to 25-4.

Lake Norman didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 86-66 victory against Watauga on the 7th. North Mecklenburg does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
