Baseball Recap: Bishop Kearney Takes a Loss

After flying high against Edison Tech on Monday, Bishop Kearney came back down to earth. The Kings took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Finney Falcons on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-7 last Monday.

Augustine Valentini was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. Athanasius Valentini was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Bishop Kearney's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Finney, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bishop Kearney will challenge Aquinas Institute at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Finney, they will venture away from home to face off against Franklin at 4:45 p.m. on Friday.
