Baseball Recap: Wayne County Comes Up Short

Wayne County extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 8-12. They came up short against the East Central Hornets, falling 15-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-10 on Thursday.

Wayne County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Stokley, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

As for East Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-11. 15 seems to be a good number for them as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

On East Central's side, Anthony Bonfiglio made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Bonfiglio has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Troy Driskell was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Gage Damazio, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: East Central beat Wayne County by a score of 6-3 later that day.
