Basketball Game Preview: Buna Cougars vs. Kountze Lions

Buna and Kountze are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Buna Cougars face off against the Kountze Lions at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Buna comes in on three and Kountze on seven.

Buna is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Anahuac: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Buna blew Anahuac out of the water with a 53-5 final score. The contest marked the Cougars' most dominant win of the season.

Meanwhile, Kountze was fully in charge on Tuesday, breezing past Hardin 82-20. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 32 points or more this season.

Buna has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.2 points per game. As for Kountze, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Buna took a serious blow against Kountze when the teams last played back in January, falling 66-38. Can Buna avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
