Baseball Recap: Searsport Comes Up Short

If Searsport was riding high fresh off their 11-4 takedown of Jonesport-Beals on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vikings lost 10-3 to the Sumner Tigers on Friday. The Vikings were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Searsport dropped their record down to 2-7 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Sumner, their win ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5.

Looking ahead, Searsport will head out to take on Piscataquis at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Sumner, they will be playing at home against Washington Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 11.9 runs per game this season.
