Volleyball Game Preview: Huntley Red Raiders vs. Lake Zurich Bears

Huntley is 0-3 against Lake Zurich since May of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Red Raiders will venture away from home to take on the Bears at 6:00 p.m.

Huntley is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Monday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Charles North.

The final score came out to 25-12, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Lake Zurich came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with three straight wins , and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Blue Devils.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Lake Zurich who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 19-25, 25-20.

Lake Zurich's win came from a few key players Huntley will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Yani Oblakov, who had 15 assists and six digs. That's the most assists he has posted over his last eight contests.

Huntley's loss dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Lake Zurich, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 28-3.

Huntley came up short against Lake Zurich in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 2-0. Can the Red Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
