Recap: Lincoln Hornets vs. Granite Hills Eagles

The Lincoln Hornets and the Granite Hills Eagles squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Lincoln Hornets had to settle for second. They and the Eagles were almost perfectly matched up, but they suffered an agonizing 27-26 loss. Lincoln's loss signaled the end of their 23-game winning streak dating back to last season.

Lincoln's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Akili Smith Jr., who threw for 192 yards and two touchdowns. Cj Williams jr. was another key contributor, gaining 172 total yards.

Leading Granite Hills to victory were Zachary Benitez and Josh Zander. Benitez threw for 224 yards and two touchdowns, while Zander picked up 116 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Zander's longest reception was for an incredible 86 yards.

Lincoln's loss dropped their record down to 11-1. As for Granite Hills, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Lincoln does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Granite Hills will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Mission Viejo at 7:00 p.m. on December 1st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in the nation (Mission Viejo is ranked 76th, while Granite Hills is ranked 69th).
