Baseball Game Preview: Edgewood Warriors vs. Lakeside Dragons

The Edgewood Warriors are taking a road trip to face off against the Lakeside Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Edgewood gave up the first runs last Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Lakeside 4-3. The game snapped a strange streak: the last five times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Alex Sperduto made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zane Naylor, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Logan Randolph also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Lakeside is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only two runs. As for Edgewood, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
