Softball Recap: River Valley's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

River Valley had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt East on Thursday. The Vikings never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Vikings, who have now won five matchups in a row.

Sidney Street made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, River Valley got a massive performance out of Samantha Woods, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Olivia Collins also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

River Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

River Valley's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for East, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Looking ahead, River Valley will head out on the road to challenge Clear Fork at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Colts have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. East does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
