Preview: North Eugene Highlanders vs. Mountain View Cougars
After seven games on the road, North Eugene is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Mountain View Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. After the pair made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky.
Last Tuesday, North Eugene made easy work of Willamette and carried off a 70-47 win. Given North Eugene's advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Willamette is ranked 220th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Eugene's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Joey Banry, who scored 20 points along with six assists. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. Elias McKinnis was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mountain View scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Thurston with a sharp 71-51 win. That looming 71-51 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Mountain View yet this season.
North Eugene's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Mountain View, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
North Eugene didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Mountain View in their previous matchup two weeks ago, but they still walked away with a 60-56 win. Will North Eugene repeat their success, or does Mountain View have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
