Baseball Recap: West Has No Trouble Against Mcgregor

West barely beat McGregor the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. West blew past McGregor 15-3 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Ayden Poteet made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, West let Zayden Vega and Tylor Bruce run wild. Vega scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Bruce scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Those stolen bases were Vega's first of the season. Easton Rinewalt was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McGregor only posted a batting average of .200.

West is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. McGregor now has a losing record of 7-8.

Looking ahead, West will head out on the road to square off against Riesel at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. McGregor does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
