Softball Game Preview: Cedar Park Christian Eagles vs. South Whidbey Falcons

Cedar Park Christian is a perfect 10-0 against South Whidbey since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Falcons at 6:00 p.m. Cedar Park Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.

Cedar Park Christian is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Mount Vernon just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 6-1 to the Bulldogs. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

Shelby Southard was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Meanwhile, South Whidbey lost 153-3 to Coupeville on Friday. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

South Whidbey's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Cedar Park Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-3.

Everything went Cedar Park Christian's way against South Whidbey in their previous matchup back in April, as Cedar Park Christian made off with a 19-0 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
