Basketball Game Preview: Sugar Creek Charter Wildcats vs. Queen's Grant Stallions

The Sugar Creek Charter Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Queen's Grant Stallions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Sugar Creek Charter's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matches.

Sugar Creek Charter is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Piedmont Community Charter just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They took an 81-74 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots.

Despite their loss, Sugar Creek Charter saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Aidan Gatewood, who posted 15 points and five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Ashton Gatewood, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

Queen's Grant has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-57 heartbreaker at the hands of Burlington Christian Academy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (56), the Stallions still had to take the loss.

Sugar Creek Charter's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for Queen's Grant, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.

Sugar Creek Charter came up short against Queen's Grant in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 62-58. Thankfully for Sugar Creek Charter, Garrett Morgan (who went 9 of 22 on his way to 27 points in addition to eight steals and six boards) won't be suiting up this time.
