The Sharon Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Jefferson Area Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Jefferson Area will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Sharon extended their winning streak to seven on Wednesday. The Tigers never let Franklin get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. Give the Tigers' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.
Madelyn Vogan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Sharon got a big performance out of Dalaini Bayer, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI Bayer has posted since back in April of 2024. Addie McFann was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Sharon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin only posted an OBP of .154.
Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Jefferson Area faced off against Geneva on Monday. The Falcons blew past the Eagles 14-2. The Falcons have beaten the Eagles the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Eagles has come to flipping the script.
Like Sharon, Jefferson Area also got a great game from a two-way player: Olivia Lewis. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits (and not a single walk). Lewis was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Allison Hill was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Makenna Stanich also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Sharon's win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. As for Jefferson Area, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sharon has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .473. However, it's not like Jefferson Area struggles in that department as they've averaged .446. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
