Basketball Recap: Foothill Skates Past Las Plumas with Ease

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Foothill walked away with it. They really took it to the Las Plumas Thunderbirds for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-42 victory. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked 456th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Matt Poulsen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 7-for-13 en route to 18 points. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games he's played. Trace Farrelly was another key player, putting up eight points and ten rebounds.

Despite the loss, Las Plumas still got an impressive performance from T.J. Thompson, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jayden Webb, who had seven points.

Foothill has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. Las Plumas' defeat dropped their record down to 19-10.

Foothill wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 67-42 win against Corning on the 26th. Las Plumas does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
