Basketball Recap: Hartfield Academy Takes a Loss

Hartfield Academy was the 54-41 winner over Silliman Institute when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Hawks fell 42-36 to the Wildcats on Thursday.

Despite the loss, Hartfield Academy still got an impressive performance from Kienzle Smith, who posted 14 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. Smith is becoming a predictor of the Hawks' success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 2-1 (and 2-3 when she doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Jackson, who scored five points along with seven boards and five steals.

Hartfield Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-4.

Looking ahead, Hartfield Academy will head out to square off against Parklane Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Silliman Institute will be paying especially close attention to the Hawks' game: after the Hawks face off against Pillow Academy, they'll take on Silliman Institute again at 3:00 p.m. on the 24th.
