Basketball Recap: Monacan Now 12-3 over Last 15 Games

Monacan won against Mechanicsville on Tuesday with 71 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. The Monacan Chiefs beat the Mechanicsville Mustangs by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 71-22. The Chiefs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Trinity Jones was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 22 points and 14 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lila Donnelly, who posted 19 points and seven assists.

Monacan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Monacan is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points over those games. Mechanicsville now has a losing record of 12-13.

Looking ahead, Monacan will face off against Chancellor at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Monacan knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Chancellor likes a good challenge. Mechanicsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
