Maize came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Andover Trojans. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Luke Ethridge tossed a big game, pitching six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, Maize's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Short, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Maize's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Andover, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Maize beat the Trojans by a score of 7-0 later that day.
