Annapolis is 1-9 against Old Mill since November of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. Annapolis will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
Annapolis is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to North County for the full four quarters, racking up a 57-14 victory. The score was close at halftime, but the Panthers pulled away in the second half with 44 points.
Zyhir Neal was his usual excellent self, rushing for 101 yards and three touchdowns. His passing game has become a key predictor of Annapolis' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. De'Myen Gray was another key player, rushing for 70 yards and one TD on only seven carries.

Another reason for the win was Annapolis' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Zach Boyd and Breon Wells, who racked up four sacks between them. Wells also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven. Annapolis received some extra help from Mario Mitchell, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Special teams played a big role in the game for Annapolis, adding 15 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Calvin Smith, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Old Mill was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 16-10 to Broadneck. The game marked the Patriots' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Annapolis will need to focus on slowing down Trey MarTini, one of several Old Mill players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 269 yards and one touchdown while completing 74.1% of his passes. 140 of Martini's passing yards were hauled in by Makel Wilder.
Annapolis' win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Old Mill, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Annapolis took their victory against Old Mill when the teams last played back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 40-20 score. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
